Introducing...

Technical Protester Management (TPM) & Removal

The increasing exploration of land based oil and gas reserves in the UK and Europe has meant that there is an increased conflict between the owners of the land and the deposits below the ground.  This conflict has been most intensely highlighted when there is a need to use Fracking techniques.

This conflict will regularly lead to active protests on potential and active sites which intimidate and delay the work of the companies carrying out exploration and extraction.  The protestors use the techniques of locking on to structures which stop access to sites or stop the ability for work to continue.  This is often complicated by locking on in dangerous locations such as at height which are difficult to resolve.  These delays cause large financial losses as well as highly negative publicity to the company.

The specialist skills required to remove such protestors are not available to normal security providers and only to specialist role Police Units normally held at a national level.

This particular combination of skills is one which POLARM excels at and has a long track record of successful and timely resolution.

Ports, Airports & Transport Links

Transport links are of critical importance to any country and with increased globalisation and the rise of the asymmetric terrorist threat these key hubs are of vital importance and at greatest risk.

As the importance and volume of trade increases the need to expand current infrastructure and develop new sites means that conflict with local communities’ increases.  The increases in carbon emissions also raises these site expansions as controversial projects and draws inevitable physical protests.

Any physical protest at a transport hub which reduces the ability to function at full capacity has direct financial impact on the port and the business users who rely on it.  Successful resolution of any protest in a short and timely fashion is critical.

POLARM is highly experienced in supporting this type of activity and previously provided Specialist Search Teams to support airport security.

Energy

Power supply is key to the successful functioning of any country and how it derives that power remain highly contentious within many parts of the community.  Nuclear power plants have always attracted protests and as a new round of nuclear power plants are looking to be built across UK and Europe it is likely to spark fresh protests at current sites.

Although renewable energy sources such as wind turbines are generally seen as being less contentious they cover huge areas of the countryside and in many cases mean that such areas see a degradation of their natural beauty.  Protests remain a current problem and will continue as areas marked for wind turbines become more contentious.

POLARM is highly experienced in supporting all aspects of security to ensure that business continuity is achieved where regular security companies do not have the required skill set.
